As it’s been implied/blatantly stated I hate cleaning.
That’s not to say I don’t like a clean house because I do.
It’s just that I have an aversion to the back breaking effort that’s required to get said clean house.
Plus, I can usually find 100 more important or interesting things to do.
So why am I doing it?
Because my family is coming for a 3+ week visit.
More specifically, the matriarchs of the family: my grandmother and mother.
Nan is the Queen of Clean & Mom is the Queen of Organization
I am neither.
I’m an Artist: notoriously pack ratty, cluttered, and absent-minded to tidiness.
When I do organize, it lasts a week tops and is all back to it’s previous disorganization.
It’s not that I don’t try, it’s that I tend to be oblivious to dust.
I’m also of the opinion that Cleaning is one of life’s futile efforts.
But, in this case, it’s a necessary evil.
Today’s task was the living room.
I decided that I will do one room/day.
So, today I went out picked up a microfiber cloth and some Swiffer Dust & Shine

It comes in different scents but I went for the standard Citrus scent. I find most of those products tend to be too perfumey.
Anyway it was decent and made all the wood furniture nice and squeaky clean and left the living room smelling nice.
After I cleaned everything, I did a massive reorganization.
It looks nice and smells nice.
When hubby gets home, I’ll have him vaccuum.
But for today, I’m pooped.
Time for some R&R this evening.

ha ha i would say i feel the same about cleaning, although with some good music (and if I’m in the right mood) i can make cleaning more fun. But i am horrible at organizing… i thought it would get better with age… haha
I’m sure your mom and nan will just be so happy to see you both
Ya I can organize and I’m good at it, I just don’t like doing it.
If you really hate cleaning you should find someone to do the cleaning for you.
I would but then there’s the whole cost issue and being a Uni Grad Money is always tight.
I appreciate the fact that you are cleaning and organizing your place for us but we are not going to inspect your place we are going out to visit with you. Consider our visit as a motivator for a clean and organized home. You don’t have to be like us, you are your own unique individual and have your own way of creatively filling your free time. I love that about you.
I am a terrible at Keeping my own place clean, Lucky my wife likes that stuff. But I am amazing when taking care of others but that’s how it works most times is it not.
Yep we all bring our strengths and weaknesses to the relationship with us and hope our partner can compliment ours.
Just pay some college kids to clean up around the house!
If I knew some I would!
Hi Steph,
I’ll think about it.
Leave the cleaning to the professionals and that will give you more time to organize!
I guess that’s why I have a business. So many people want to pass this little chore off. I do window cleaning in Dallas and Plano TX area
Passing off of work like this keeps us in business!
